Silver-colored long hoe-shaped helmet with dark blue threads, Aizunuri Dragon tiger folding screen. In the olden days, samurai warriors of the Sengoku period uses helmets not only to protect their heads, but also show their dignity. 

The folding screen in the background is decorated with a dragon and tiger pattern. The tiger is a symbol of bravery and a suitable design for the celebration of Boy's Festival Day. Tiger decorations are sometimes used to ward off evil spirits. The dragon is a mythical creature from China, and it is said that a carp that can climb a waterfall becomes a dragon. This represents a boys growth into a dignified and strong man.

 

The helmet, which protects the head of a military commander, eventually changed its meaning to protect children from disasters. which came to be given to Boy's Festival to pray for their healthy growth.

 

The method of weaving used on the back of the armour is called "Odoshi". Threading and filling the gaps is the most time-consuming part of the production, and it is carried out with great care. Since ancient times the red used in the threads of the decorative armour have been believed to ward off evil spirits.
